Navilas Anterior Segment Mode
Laser peripheral iridotomy
Tissue-friendly treatment
Navigated microsecond pulsing treatment allows photothermal stimulation of diseased retinal areas, while preserving function and avoiding scarring. The unique, all-digital approach enables a predictable subthreshold treatment.
Laser Peripheral Iridotomy – how it works
Navilas enables the user to intuitively switch from retina treatment mode to anterior segment treatment mode, which initially supports Laser Peripheral Iridotomy (LPI).
The application is designed for combination therapy, using a standard iridotomy (“Abraham”) lens with 0.63x laser spot magnification. LPI allows the physician to prepare the iris with the Navilas 577 nm yellow laser. After the initial treatment with Navilas, the physician can complete the iridotomy treatment with less complication (bleeding) using a separate YAG laser. This combination therapy is a common procedure.
Clinical Case
Female middle-aged patient presented with narrow-angle glaucoma. Treatment with Navilas in two stages
First stage: Stretch the iris with 4 single spots using 200mW, 200ms and 200µm
Second stage: Remove iris stroma using 1000mW, 20ms and 50µm
The YAG laser was used to complete the treatment. Due to combination therapy, haemorrhages could be prevented.
